Mechanisms, Biomarkers and Comparative Biology of Ageing

About our Research

Our researchers explore the ageing process at a fundamental and highly integrative level, exploring the causes and consequences of ageing from the molecule right up to the level of the individual and the population. With extensive expertise in ecology and evolutionary biology, molecular and cellular biology, medicine (human and veterinary), neuroscience, chemistry and engineering, we are applying interdisciplinary approaches to study ageing using a wide-range of model and non-model systems. In addition to our wide-ranging expertise, we have access to state of the art facilities, novel technologies and equipment that put us firmly at the forefront of ageing research. This includes the use of emergent bioengineering technologies to identify novel biomarkers of ageing and disease.
